Jennifer Erthal, LCSW
Hi, I’m Jennifer, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here!
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping people navigate life’s challenges. My approach is warm, relational, and flexible. I believe therapy should feel like a natural, laid-back process where you can show up as your authentic self, free from judgment or pressure. To create that space, I often incorporate humor and prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship with each of my clients.
I know that everyone’s journey is unique, which is why I focus on meeting you where you’re at. Whether we’re tackling in-the-moment stressors with practical coping strategies or diving into deeper work that requires time and patience, I’m here to guide you in a way that feels comfortable and supportive.
When it comes to the therapeutic process, I emphasize emotional growth, self-understanding, and connection. Whether we’re working through anxiety, self-esteem challenges, ADHD, or trauma – my role is to help you understand yourself better and build the tools to move forward. I strive to create an accepting, inclusive space where individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences feel seen, valued, and supported. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so I partner with you to create a flow that fits your needs and allows for both immediate support and long-term growth.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic methods, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs. I work with individuals across the lifespan, providing support with an emphasis on connection, emotional growth, and self-compassion. No matter the approach I use, my work is always guided by a deep respect for your unique story and needs.
I am trained in play therapy, and I use this approach with kids to help them express and regulate emotions in a developmentally appropriate way. For adults, I draw on the foundational principles of play therapy to explore core beliefs and childhood experiences that have shaped who they are today. If you’ve ever felt like something from your past is affecting your present, this approach can help you connect the dots and move forward on your healing journey.
Healing is a deeply personal process, and I would be honored to walk alongside you. If you're ready to take the next step toward positive change, I’m here to help. Please reach out to schedule a consultation or ask any questions you may have.
My Specialities.
-
Anxiety
Anxiety can lead to constant thought spirals and second-guessing, leaving you feeling mentally and emotionally drained. It often shows up as overthinking, people-pleasing, or difficulty relaxing. Together, we can unpack these anxious thoughts and build tools to help you feel more grounded and at peace.
-
Play Therapy & Parenting
I use play therapy to help children express big emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills in a way that feels natural and safe. I also offer parenting support to strengthen connection, improve co-regulation, and increase confidence at home. Together, we’ll create a path toward healing that supports both the child and their caregiver.
-
Self-Esteem
Struggles with self-esteem can show up in many ways. from perfectionism and body image concerns to chronic self-doubt. You may find yourself stuck in constant comparison or feeling like nothing you do is ever enough. I offer a supportive space to explore these patterns, quiet your inner critic, and build a more confident, compassionate relationship with yourself.
-
Medical Trauma
Living with a chronic illness or the aftermath of medical trauma can leave a lasting emotional impact. Whether you're managing symptoms, navigating a difficult diagnosis, or healing from past medical experiences, the emotional toll is real. Together, we explore these challenges, build meaningful strategies for healing, and work toward feeling safe and connected in your body again.
ADHD Evaluations
I offer comprehensive evaluations for children ages 4-13 years old when there are concerns with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity. With specialized training in the assessment of ADHD and related conditions, these evaluations are designed to assess symptoms of ADHD and provide an accurate diagnosis of ADHD or another related condition. Following the evaluation, you will receive a formal diagnosis (if appropriate), individualized treatment recommendations, and a detailed report and/or letter to support accommodations at school. A little more about me…
When I am not in session, I love trying a new restaurant or coffee spot. I also love lazy days at home with a good book, especially a thriller - I love a good plot twist! Some of my favorite little hobbies that bring me joy include pretending to be a barista and making fun new drinks, curating the perfect cheese board, and creating a bouquet of the week with some fresh Trader Joes flowers.
Traveling is my absolute favorite thing, so I am always planning a trip or looking up new places to explore. I also enjoy running, even though I question my sanity during every race I sign up for. I've completed a few half marathons, and I am definitely not fast, haha - but I do like proving to myself I can do hard things.
Probably the most important thing you should know about me is that I have a cutie little pup named Basil. Heis my pride and joy - he also like to makes the occasional cameo during virtual sessions!
